Felicia Dorothea Hemans, leánynevén Browne, angol költőnő, szül Liverpoolban 1794 szept. 25., megh. Dublin melletti redesdalei falusi birtokán 1835 máj. 16. Kereskedő leánya, aki ifjuságát É.-Walesben töltötte, amelynek regényes vidéke nagyon hatott költői lelkére. Később nőül ment H. kapitányhoz, akitől azonban utóbb elvált. Művei: England and Spain, or valour and patriotism (1808); Domestic affections (1812);és Modern Greece (1817); Tales and historic scenes in verses (1819); Wallace, Dartmoor (1821); Welsh melodies (1822); Forest sanctuary (1825); Siege of Valencia, the last Constantine (1823); Songs of Cid, The lays of many lands, Songs of the affections (1830); Ssenes and hymns of life (1834); Hymns on the works of nat. (1833); Hymns for childhood (1834); Records of women (1828); Poetical remains-jeit 1836. adták ki. Költői művei (Poetical works) 1884. jelentek meg.
