Täuschung (German)

Ich ruhte aus vom Wandern,
Der Mond ging eben auf,
Da sah ich fern im Lande
Der alten Tiber Lauf,
Im Walde lagen Trümmer,
Paläste auf stillen Höhn
Und Gärten im Mondesschimmer –
O Welschland, wie bist du schön!

Und als die Nacht vergangen,
Die Erde blitzte so weit,
Einen Hirten sah ich hangen
Am Fels in der Einsamkeit.
Den fragt ich ganz geblendet:
"Komm ich nach Rom noch heut?"
Er dehnt' sich halbgewendet:
"Ihr seid nicht recht gescheut!"
Eine Winzerin lacht' herüber,
Man sah sie vor Weinlaub kaum,
Mir aber ging's Herze über –
Es war ja alles nur Traum.

Káprázat (Hungarian)

Utam végére értem,
Akkor kelt épp a hold,
S láttam, a messzeségben
Az ős Tevere folyt.
Erdőt lakott a romkert,
Halk dombot a palota,
A lugasokra hold kelt –
De szép vagy, Itália!

Gondoltam, hajnalodik, lám,
A föld felragyogott.
Egy pásztor állt a sziklán,
Magányos, elhagyatott.
Kérdeztem káprázatban:
Messze van Róma még?
Rám nézett, mozdulatlan:
Hová tevé az eszét?
Most felkacag egy parasztlány,
S a szőlők közt elenyész.
Megérti a szívem aztán:
Csak álom volt az egész.
