Lowry, Malcolm: Lamentálás - 1944 június (A lament – june 1944 in Hungarian)

Portre of Lowry, Malcolm

A lament – june 1944 (English)

Our house is dead

It burned to the ground

On a morning in June

With a wind from the Sound.

The fire that fed

On our marriage bed

Left a bottle of gin.

Black under the moon

Our house is dead.

We shall build it again

But our home is gone.

And the world burns on.

Lamentálás - 1944 június (Hungarian)

Házunk halott

porig égett, s vele

egy júniusi hajnal, s a

légnyomás morajló szele.

Hitvesi ágyunkon

a tűz orgiázott

meghagyva egy butelka gint.

Sötétlő Hold-rokon;

a házunk halott.

Felépítjük majd megint

de otthonként oda már

s a világ lángokban áll.
