Még alig volt reggel, már megint este van.

Még alig volt tavasz, már megint itt a tél.

Még alig, Juliskám, hogy megösmerkedtünk,

S már feleségem vagy, már rég azzá lettél.

Még alig, hogy játszánk apáink térdén, s már

Maholnap ott alszunk nagyapáink mellett...

Csak annyi az élet, mint futó felhőnek

Árnya a folyón, mint tükrön a lehellet.
