Kányádi Sándor: You know... (Tudod... in English)

Portre of Kányádi Sándor

Tudod... (Hungarian)

soha nem bántam meg,
hogy megszerettelek,
pedig felbolygatta ez a szeretet
az egész életem,
Tudod,
soha nem csalódtam benned,
pedig sokszor nem értettem
a cselekedetedet,
sokszor féltettelek,
leginkább magadtól féltettelek,
Tudod,
lassan fogynak körülöttem a dolgok,
a dolgaim,
vagy messzire kerülnek tőlem,
vagy csak én távolodok,
ahogy szakadoznak a szálak,
az érzés egyre jobban magához láncol,
Tudod,
mikor megkönnyezek valamit,
ami szép volt,
megvigasztal a gondolat,
hogy lakozik bennem egy csoda,
ami nem hagy el,
amit nem vehet el tőlem
sem az irigység
sem a rosszindulat,
Tudod,
ebből az érzésből táplálkozom,
miatta össze sem csuklom,
ha elesek is, érte felállok,
ha sírok is elmosolyodok,
talán,
ha végleg elalszom,
érte akkor is felébredek.

You know... (English)

i’ve never ever regretted,
falling in love with you,
though this love stirred up
my whole life,
You know,
i’ve never been disappointed,
though sometimes i didn’t understand
your deeds,
i often worried about you,
in fact i wanted to save you from yourself,
You know,
things are disappearing around me,
my things,
either they get far from me,
or it’s just me getting farther,
as the threads get torn bit by bit,
the feeling enchains me more and more,
You know,
when something once beautiful
makes me cry,
i’m comforted by the thought
that a wonder dwells within me
that never lets me down,
that can never be taken from me
by envy
or ill-will,
You know,
this feeling confirms me,
it doesn’t let me fall apart,
even if i fall, i’ll stand up for it,
even if i cry, i’ll start smiling,
perhaps,
if i go off to sleep for good,
even then, i’ll wake up for it.
