Dsida Jenő: In front of the gate (A kapú előtt in English)

Portre of Dsida Jenő

A kapú előtt (Hungarian)

Kedvesem, szegény kedvesem! Nézd
ez a kapú. Sötét, mint a gondolat,
erős, mint az örökkévalóság. Ezen
kellett volna bejutnunk, ha nem kapok

sebet. Zúg a fejem, alig látok,
elhagy a lelkem, meghalok. De te
ne félj! Bejutsz. Neked hagyom a
hattyútollat. S három csepp véremet.

In front of the gate (English)

My dear, my poor dear! Look,
this is the gate. It is dark, like a thought,
strong as all eternity.  Had I not been wounded,
it is here that we should have entered.

My head is buzzing, I can barely see,
my soul abandons me, I die. But you
should not worry! You will get in. I leave
the swan feather, and three drops of my blood to you.
