Strange (Angol)
how you go along all day
for a million years
and see the world groping about
in its existentialist sort of way
the white limbed old nurse
hurrying to a hygienic universe
where issues of importance to no one
are decided in heaping spoonfuls
of absolute death,
or the three a.m. food emporiums
on forever corners
where the day-old bread is a bargain of reality
served with blue-plate attitudes
or how the transparent aged
do their eyeless genuflections to the sun
in anesthetic parks where the grass
only to look at
or how people crouch in streetcars
and hide behind newsprint
of foreign wars and domestic rape
afraid to look out and see what's really there
or how stretched out on the sunny sand at Aquatic Park
you watch an old retired lithographer
take off his shoes and neatly fold
his pension purchased coat
then wade out towards the bell-buoy
until you don't see him any longer
or how on streetcorner in front of Penny's
a clean man with REPENT in his hat-band
hawks the unknown sayings of Jesus
for a nickel
or how the door is knocked once too often
and you capitulate to Girl Scout Cookies
how the glass statue of St. John the anti-baptist
shudders slightly
at the sound of vesper bells
or how an almost non-existent salesperson
peers across years of yardage
as if a fate worse than death
really was
or how learned virgins emerge from book-stalls
to stand waiting
in the crevice of a single thought
under the baptismal chill of a solitary streetlamp
or how you jamble up stick stairs
a passageway for dusty smells
and midnight coughs
in an old brown house of high façade
or how she looks and says yes
and you are young in your old shoes
and the night goes around inside of the moon.
STRANGE
you should see all this for a million years
and then one day,
never look again. Feltöltő | P. T. |

Furcsa (Magyar)
hogy jársz-kelsz egész nap
egymillió éve
és nézed hogy tapogatózik előre
egzisztencialista útján e világ
mint a fehérhusú öreg dada
egy higiénikus mindenség felé ahol
senkinek se nyílik vészkijárat
a tökéletes halál
pupozott kávéskanalától,
vagy a hajnali három órás csemege-boltot
az örök sarkokon
hol az egynapos kenyér a valóság jutányos
ajánlata tökéletes kiszolgálásban
vagy a tiszta öregeket ahogy
vakon térdre borulnak a nap előtt
érzéstelenített parkokban ahol a füvet
a kiszolgált nyugdíjas öreg nyomdász
leveti cipőjét és csinosan összehajtogatja a
nyugdíjból vásárolt esőköpenyét
aztán elvergődik a vészjelző bójáig
mintha létezne a halálnál
rosszabb végzet is
Furcsa
hogy mindezt egy millió évig nézheted
aztán egy nap
egyszerre nem látod soha többé.
