Birtalan Balázs: The birth of noise (A lárma születése Angol nyelven)

Birtalan Balázs portréja

A lárma születése (Magyar)

Kezdetben volt a csend.
Csend volt, nem süketség:
részecskék, csillagok keletkeztek,
s indultak útjukra az anyag mélysége,
az űr tágassága fele.
Csend volt: a kozmosz csendje.

Ezerfelé hömpölygött a csend, a Föld felé is.
Csend volt, nem süketség:
tengerek, folyók bömböltek,
kontinensek robbantak létre,
hegyek születtek, haltak.
Csend volt: a bolygó csendje.

Megsokszorozta magát a csend, életté vált.
Csend volt, nem süketség:
ősgyíkok trappoltak,
madarak rikoltoztak,
ragadozók lihegetek, prédáik hördültek végsőt.
Csend volt: a vadon csendje.

Rácsodálkozott a csend önmagára.
Csend volt, nem süketség:
lábak dobogták a táncot,
ének szólt szerelemről, idézett hősi csatákat,
mese kanyargott szívtől szívig, a titkok útján.
Csend volt: az ember csendje.

Birtokká vált a csend, vagyontárggyá.
Egy este valaki kezébe vette,
megtörte és tanítványainak adta,
s mi e megtört csendet adjuk tovább máig,
egyre fokozódó lármával,
az ő emlékezetére.

The birth of noise (Angol)

In the beginning, there was silence.
There was silence, not deafness:
small particles, stars came into being,
and began their journey into the depths of matter,
towards the spread of space.
There was silence: the silence of the cosmos

Silence billowed a thousand ways, towards the Earth as well
There was silence, not deafness:
Oceans and rivers howled,
continents exploded into being,
mountains were born, had died.
There was silence: the silence of the planet.

Silence multiplied itself, came into being.
There was silence, not deafness:
ancient lizards stomped about,
birds were squawking,
predators were panting, their prey gasped their last.
There was silence: the silence of the wild.

Silence marvelled at itself.
There was silence, not deafness:
feet danced to beats,
there were songs about love, songs about ancient battles,
fables meandered heart to heart along the path of secrets.
There was silence: the silence of man.

Silence became property, an asset.
One evening someone picked it up,
broke it and gave it to his disciples,
and we pass this broken silence on, to this day,
with ever-increasing noise,
in memory of him.
