Biography

Az első amerikai őslakos nőíró a pueblo indiánok rezervátumában nőtt fel, ahol még matriarchális hagyományok élnek. A Laguna Woman című verseskötetével jelentkezett, híressé a Ceremony című, 1977-ben publikált regénye tette. Storyteller című művében a költészet, képzelet, valóság, legenda és fényképek ötvözésével meséli el családja történetét.

Néhány munkája: Almanac of the Dead; Gardens in the Dunes; Western Stories; Sacred Water: Narratives and Pictures; Rain; Love poem and Slim Canyon; Oceanstory; The Turquoise Ledge: A Memoir; Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit: Essays on Native American Life Today.
