Biography

Archibald Lampman (1861 – 1899) kanadai költő. Lampman anglikán papi családból származott; Torontóban, a Trinity College-ban bölcsészetet hallgatott, majd Ottawában, a postahivatal bankosztályán dolgozott mint főtisztviselő. Életében három verseskötete jelent meg: Among Millet and Other Poems (Köles között és egyéb versek, 1888), Lyrics of Earth (A föld költeményei, 1895) és Alcyone (1899). Posztumusz munkái között szerepel At the Long Sault and Other New Poems (A Hosszú Zuhatagnál és egyéb új versek, 1943), The Poems of Archibald Lampman (Archibald Lampman versei, 1974) és The Selected Prose of Archibald Lampman (Archibald Lampman válogatott prózája, 1975). Noha Lampmant Kanada legjobb romantikus költőjének tartják, látásmódja több értelemben is profetikusan modern.
