Dickinson, Emily: Sosem tudjuk meddig vagyunk (We never know how high we are in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily

We never know how high we are (English)

We never know how high we are
Till we are called to rise;
And then, if we are true to plan,
Our statures touch the skies—

The Heroism we recite
Would be a daily thing,
Did not ourselves the Cubits warp
For fear to be a King—

Sosem tudjuk meddig vagyunk (Hungarian)

Sosem tudjuk meddig vagyunk
Csak szólítnak s növünk;
S ha tervhez híven tesszük ezt,
Éghez ér termetünk —

Hőssé-növésről jár a szánk
S ez volna a Szabály,
Ha nem rőföznénk le magunk’
Hogy ne legyünk Király —
