Dickinson, Emily: Léptem oly óvatos (I stepped from plank to plank in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

I stepped from plank to plank (English)

I stepped from plank to plank
  So slow and cautiously;
The stars about my head I felt,
  About my feet the sea.

I knew not but the next
  Would be my final inch,—
This gave me that precarious gait
  Some call experience.

Léptem oly óvatos (Hungarian)

Léptem oly óvatos
Volt hajóm padlatán;
A fejem körül csillagok,
Lábamnál óceán.

Nem tudtam: még egy incs,
S az a végső lehet, —
Járásom ettől ingatag.
Hja, a tapasztalat!
