Dickinson, Emily: Ki ez az arc? (Whose cheek is this? 82 in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

Whose cheek is this? 82 (English)

Whose cheek is this?
What rosy face
Has lost a blush today?
I found her — "pleiad" — in the woods
And bore her safe away.

Robins, in the tradition
Did cover such with leaves,
But which the cheek —
And which the pall
My scrutiny deceives.

Ki ez az arc? (Hungarian)

Ki ez az arc?
Szép rózsa-szín
Volt — s nem rózsás ma, nem.
Erdőn — „Plejádok!” — leltem én
S nálam van, jó helyen.

Néphit szerint vörösbegy
Lep el levelekkel ilyet,
De mi az arc —
S mi a lepel,
Hát azt fürkészheted.
