Dickinson, Emily: (Diókabát de jó) ((How fits his Umber Coat) in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

(How fits his Umber Coat) (English)

How fits his Umber Coat
The Tailor of the Nut?
Combined without a seam
Like Raiment of a Dream —

Who spun the Auburn Cloth?
Computed how the girth?
The Chestnut aged grows
In those primeval Clothes —

We know that we are wise —
Accomplished in Surprise —
Yet by this Countryman —
This nature — how undone!

(Diókabát de jó) (Hungarian)

E Dió Kabátja de jó
Hogyan szabja rá a Szabó?
Nincs sehol semmi varrata
Mint valami Álom-Ruha —

Ki szőtt ily Barna Szövetet?
Hogyan vett pontos méretet?
Csak nő csak nő a Gesztenye
S nő vele ósdi Köpenye —

Mi tudjuk mi az a Tudás —

A fenti fordítás tömöríthető három verslábú sorokba is; bizonyos nüanszok elsikkadnak, de nem is olyan sok. Minden árnyalat úgysem adható vissza, még „nyersfordításban” azaz prózai fordításban sem.

Diókabát de jó
Hogy’ szabja rá Szabó?
Nincs sehol varrata
Szinte Álom-Ruha —

Ki sző ily Szövetet?
Hogyan vesz méretet?
Csak nő a Gesztenye
S vele ó Köpenye —

Tudjuk bölcsek vagyunk —
Bámulni is tudunk —
De jön e pici Pór
S mindez semmit sem ér!
