Dickinson, Emily: (A Lég nem ég és nem szepeg,) ((Air has no Residence, no Neighbor,) in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

(Air has no Residence, no Neighbor,) (English)

Air has no Residence, no Neighbor,
No Ear, no Door,
No Apprehension of Another
Oh, Happy Air!

Ethereal Guest at e'en an Outcast's Pillow —
Essential Host, in Life's faint, wailing Inn,
Later than Light thy Consciousness accost me
Till it depart, persuading Mine —

(1865 körül)

(A Lég nem ég és nem szepeg,) (Hungarian)

A Lég nem ég és nem szepeg,
Se Fog, se Szag,
Öreg de senkitől nem, nem remeg,
De boldog agg!

Étheri vendég Száműzött Ágyában is —
Az Élet Könnykocsmája Főura,
Tudásod be Fénynél később kopog,
És Tudásom sírig tartó tere —

Az első strófa szójátékszerű azaz inkább „betűjátékszerű”: öt szó végződik R-betűvel, köztük maga az air = levegő szó, A fordítás inkább erre koncentrál, mintsem a fogalmak pontosságára. Alternatív fordítása:

Ájer! Nincs Szomszédja, se Vára,
Se Ház, se Kert,
Boldog, mert nem les soha félre:
Kitől se tart.
