Dickinson, Emily: Ha meg kellene halnom, 54 (If I should die, 54 in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily

Back to the translator

If I should die, 54 (English)

If I should die,
And you should live —
And time should gurgle on —
And morn should beam —
And noon should burn —
As it has usual done —
If Birds should build as early
And Bees as bustling go —
One might depart at option
From enterprise below!
'Tis sweet to know that stocks will stand
When we with Daisies lie —
That Commerce will continue —
And Trades as briskly fly —
It makes the parting tranquil
And keeps the soul serene —
That gentlemen so sprightly
Conduct the pleasing scene!

Ha meg kellene halnom, 54 (Hungarian)

Ha meg kellene halnom,
És élned kellene --
Az idő meg csak folyna --
S a reggel fénylene --
Ahogy szokása, hevét
Ontaná ránk a dél --
Madarak köröznének,
És sürögne a méh --
De az eltávozó előtt
Lebeghet másik kép!
Édes tudni, van tőzsde,
Míg mi a fű alatt --
Láthatsz Kereskedelmet --
Buzgólkodó Ipart --
Mily békés így a válás,
S milyen nyugodt a szív --
Hogy energikus urak
Igazgatják a színt!
