Dickinson, Emily: (Újra itt volt Imaidőm —) ((My period had come for Prayer —) in Hungarian)

Portre of Dickinson, Emily
Portre of Israel Efraim

Back to the translator

(My period had come for Prayer —) (English)

My period had come for Prayer —
No other Art — would do —
My Tactics missed a rudiment —
Creator — Was it you?

God grows above — so those who pray
Horizons — must ascend —
And so I stepped upon the North
To see this Curious Friend —

His House was not — no sign had He —
By Chimney — nor by Door
Could I infer his Residence —
Vast Prairies of Air

Unbroken by a Settler —
Were all that I could see —
Infinitude — Had'st Thou no Face
That I might look on Thee?

The Silence condescended —
Creation stopped — for Me —
But awed beyond my errand —
I worshipped — did not "pray" —

(Újra itt volt Imaidőm —) (Hungarian)

Újra itt volt Imaidőm —
Más Mód — alig akad —
Eltaktikáztam — egy kezdeményt —
Teremtő — Te magad?

Isten fel nő — hágja ki kér
Horizontok sorát —
Én meg is néztem Északon —
Érdekes egy Barát —

Háza — nem volt cégtábla ott —
Sem Kémény — sem Küszöb
Nem jelezte hogy ott lakik —
Csak nagy Légmezők

Látványa volt előttem —
Tanya sehol se Lak —
Vég nélkül — Arc nem volt-e hát
Hogy megnézhesselek?

A Csönd lejött miattam —
A Teremtés leállt —
De döbbent áhitatban
Áldoztam — nem „imát” —
