Joyce, James: Kamarazene VIII (Chamber Music VIII in Hungarian)

Portre of Joyce, James
Portre of Gergely Ágnes

Back to the translator

Chamber Music VIII (English)

Who goes amid the green wood

With springtide all adorning her?

Who goes amid the merry green wood

To make it merrier?

Who passes in the sunlight

By ways that know the light footfall?

Who passes in the sweet sunlight

With mien so virginal?

The ways of all the woodland

Gleam with a soft and golden fire —

For whom does all the sunny woodland

Carry so brave attire?

O, it is for my trite love

The woods their rich apparel wear —

O, it is for my own true love,

That is so young and fair.

Kamarazene VIII (Hungarian)

Ki jár az ifju erdőn,

A tavaszittas zöld gyepen?

Ki jár a vidám, ifju erdőn,

Hogy még vígabb legyen?

Ki az, ki ott a fényben

Lágyan neszezve lép tova?

Ki hát amott az édes fényben

A szűzi, szép csoda?

Az útakon s a fákon

Csillámló színarany tűz ég —

Kiért a napsütötte fákon

A pompás öltözék?

A kedvesért, csak érte

Öltött az erdő díszruhát —

Az én kedvesemért, csak érte,

Hisz ő az ifjuság.
