Joyce, James: A lány sírja Rahoon felett (She Weeps over Rahoon in Hungarian)

Portre of Joyce, James
Portre of Tótfalusi István

Back to the translator

She Weeps over Rahoon (English)

Rain on Rahoon falls softly, softly falling,

Where my dark lover lies.

Sad is his voice that calls me, sadly calling,

At grey moonrise.

Love, hear thou

How soft, how sad his voice is ever calling,

Ever unanswered, and the dark rain falling,

Then as now.

Dark too our hearts, O love, shall lie and cold

As his sad heart has lain

Under the moongrey nettles, the black mould

And muttering rain.

A lány sírja Rahoon felett (Hungarian)

Az eső Rahoonra oly lágyan hull ma,

hol sötét szeretőm

fekszik, bús hangja szólit, szólit újra,

ha a hold a tetőn.

A hangja, lám,

mily lágy, mily búsan szólít egyre, újra,

s jaj! válasz nincs, sötét esőkbe fúl ma,

mint hajdanán.

S én is lenyugszom majd, hideg homályba,

mint bús szivével ő,

felettünk rőt agyag, holdszürke mályva

és mormoló eső.
