Stevens, Wallace: Anekdota a korsóról (Anecdote of the Jar in Hungarian)

Portre of Stevens, Wallace

Anecdote of the Jar (English)

I placed a jar in Tennessee,

And round it was, upon a hill.

It made the slovenly wilderness

Surround that hill.

The wilderness rose up to it,

And sprawled around, no longer wild.

The jar was round upon the ground

And tall and of a port in air.

It took dominion everywhere.

The jar was gray and bare.

It did not give of bird or bush,

Like nothing else in Tennessee.

Anekdota a korsóról (Hungarian)

Egy kerek korsót kitettem

Egy dombra Tennesseeben.

A lompos vadon, mondhatom,

Körül is vette szépen.

A vadon felnőtt, kiterült

Körötte, nem volt már vad.

Korsó, kerek, a föld felett,

Magas kapu a légben.

Teret hódított mindenütt.

A szürke, csupasz korsó.

Se bokor, se madár, magában áll

Egy korsó Tennesseeben.
