Tomlinson, Charles: Almahámozás (Paring the apple in Hungarian)

Portre of Tomlinson, Charles

Paring the apple (English)

There are portraits and still-lives.

And there is paring the apple.

And then? Paring it slowly,
From under cool-yellow
Cold-white emerging. And...?

The spring of concentric peel
Unwinding off white,
The blade hidden, dividing.

There are portraits and still-lives
And the first, because "human"
Does not excel the second, and
Neither is less weighted
With a human gesture, than paring the apple
With human stillness.

The cool blade
Severs between coolness, apple-rind
Compelling a recognition.

Almahámozás (Hungarian)

Vannak portrék, csendéletek.

És van az almahámozás.

No és? Lassan hámozva
Hűvös-sárga alól
Hűvös-fehér bukkan ki. És...?

A koncentrikus héj rugója
Fehéren tekeredik le,
A penge rejtve, az elválasztó.

Vannak portrék, csendéletek,
És az első, mert „emberi",
Nem több a másodiknál, s
Nem kevésbé terhes
Emberi mozdulattal, mint az almahámozás
Emberi csenddel.

A hűvös penge
Hűvösség, almahéj közt válik el,
És bámulatra késztet.
