Levertov, Denise: A por kiszabadítása (The Freeing of the Dust in Hungarian)

Portre of Levertov, Denise

Back to the translator

The Freeing of the Dust (English)

Unwrap the dust from its mummycloths.
Let Ariel learn
a blessing for Caliban
and Caliban drink dew from the lotus
open upon the waters.
Bitter the slow
river water: dew
shall wet his lips with light.
Let the dust
float, the wrappings too
are dust.
Drift upon the stir
of air, of dark
river: ashes of what had lived,
or seeds
of ancient sesame,
or namelessly
pure dust that is all
in all.                     Bless,
weightless Spirit. Drink,
Caliban, push your tongue
heavy into the calyx.

A por kiszabadítása (Hungarian)

Ki kell bontani a port múmiaruháiból.
Írjon Ariel
dalt Calibánnak
és igyon Calibán a vízen nyitó
lótuszból harmatot.
Keserű a lassú
folyóvíz, harmat
kell, hogy száraz ajkát fényesítse.
Lebegjen csak
a por, porrá lettek már a
gyolcstekercsek is.
Sodródjék a levegő
örvényein, a sötét
folyóén: valami élő hamvai,
vagy régi
szezám-magok,
vagy csak névtelen,
tiszta por: ez volna
minden.           Áldj meg
könnyű Szellem. Igyál
Calibán, lökd súlyos
nyelved a kehelybe.
