Roethke, Theodore: Még egyszer, körtánc (Once More, the Round in Hungarian)

Portre of Roethke, Theodore
Portre of Ferencz Győző

Back to the translator

Once More, the Round (English)

What's greater, Pebble or Pond?

What can be known? The Unknown.

My true self runs toward a Hill

More! O More! visible.

Now I adore my life

With the Bird, the abiding Leaf,

With the Fish, the questing Snail,

And the Eye altering All;

And I dance with William Blake

For love, for Love's sake;

And everything comes to One,

As we dance on, dance on, dance on.

Még egyszer, körtánc (Hungarian)

Mi nagyobb, a Kő vagy a Tó?

A nem-ismert? Megismerhető.

Egy Hegynek fut igazi énem,

S már Látszik! Látszik! egyre jobban.

Már szeretem az életet,

Kitartó Lombot, Állatot,

Fürkész Csigát, Halakat,

A Szemet mi átalakít;

És táncolok William Blake-kel,

Szeretni Szerelemért kell;

És újból Egy a világ,

Ahogy táncolunk tovább, tovább, tovább.
