Burnside, John: A belső fül (The inner ear in Hungarian)

Portre of Burnside, John

The inner ear (English)

It never switches off; even asleep
We listen in to gravity itself.

Crossing a field is one long exercise
in equilibrium - a player’s grace -

though what we mean by that
has more to do

with music
than the physics we imagine.

A history of forest and the murk
of oceans, nice

adjustments
in the memory of bone

lead us to this: the gaze;
the upright form.

Lemur and tree-shrew linger in the spine
becoming steps; a track worn in the grass;

A moment’s pause
before the rain moves in.

A belső fül (Hungarian)

Sohasem kapcsol ki, még álomban sem
Amikor magába a gravitációba hallgatunk bele

Áthaladni egy téren az egyensúly
- egy játékos kecsességének - hosszú gyakorlata

habár amit mi ennek gondolunk tulajdonképpen az
hogy többet kell ténykedni

a zenével
mint ahogyan mi a fizikát elképzeljük.

Az erdő és a tengerek zúgásának
története, kedves

rendezkedés
a csont-emlékezetben

vezet minket ehhez: a tekintet;
a függőleges forma.

Lemur és cickány fúrja át a gerincet
mi lépcsőfokokká válik; a fűbe taposott nyommá;

Egy pillanatnyi szünet
mielőtt elered az eső.
