Yeats, William Butler: Dal és kabát (A Coat in Hungarian)

Portre of Yeats, William Butler

A Coat (English)

I made my song a coat
Covered with embroideries
Out of old mythologies
From heel to throat;
But the fools caught it,
Wore it in the world’s eyes
As though they’d wrought it.
Song, let them take it
For there’s more enterprise
In walking naked.

Dal és kabát (Hungarian)

Dalomé e kabát;
Én varrtam, s fonalakkal,
Ősöreg mítoszokkal
Hímeztem át meg át;
Buták lehúzták,
S mintha övék lenne
Büszkén mutatták;
Dal engedd, hordják,
Megint újat keress te,
Most csupaszon járj!
