Clampitt, Amy: A vízesés (The Waterfall in Hungarian)

Portre of Clampitt, Amy
Portre of Tandori Dezső

Back to the translator

The Waterfall (English)

Orb-weaver shivering
among the filaments: how many
fibers generated from within
transect the air?

How many hirsute, sightless
gropings anchor
these redwood trees, suffuse
the flowery traceries

of the oxalis? The veining
in this hand, these
eyeballs, the circuitous
and scintillating

leap within the brain—
the synapse,
the waterfall, the black-
thread mane of fern

beside it—all, all
suspend, here:
everywhere, existences
hang by a hair

A vízesés (Hungarian)

Gömb-szövő remegés
a rostok közt: hány benső
eredezésű szál járja a
levegőt át meg át?

Hány érdes-bolyhos, nem
látható horgony által
fogóznak e szikvóják, áradnak
a madársóska virágos

csipkeművei? Az erezet
e kézben, itt e
szemgolyókban, a körkörös
és villódzó fényű

szökellés az agyban -
a szinapszis,
a vízesés, a fekete-
fonalú páfránysörény ott

mellette - mind, mind
függőben, itt és
mindenütt: egyetlen haj-
szálon függő létezés
