Összeszorított foggal viselem
a nesztelenséget,
nem a vágyottat,
nem is a holtak ajkán bimbózó gyümöcsfákat,
hanem azt a rettegett, nyomorúságos 
magányt, amelyben mindig nélküled érek haza,
farkasszemet nézve egy öregasszonyos,
előttem negyedmosolynyi világgal.
Át kellene írni valamit!
Talán a felelősséget a vállamon,
vagy átrendezni egymáshoz szóló hangjaink
torkunkban rekedt gyémántberakásait.
Akkor megváltozna az a tényszerű birtokviszony,
melyben nekem jutnak a kialvatlan szemkarikák,
és te, súlyos léptű isten
többé nem szégyellnéd az alázatos mozdulatot,
hogy lehajolj hozzám.

I endure with desperately set teeth

this unbroken stillness,

not the desired kind,

neither the budding fruit trees on the lips of the dead,

but that much dreaded, more miserable

loneliness, in which I always come home without you,

facing an old-womanly sort of world

with a fraction of smile for me.

Something should be recomposed!

Perhaps the responsibility on me,

or the diamond-inlay of our voices to each other

should be rearranged, they got stuck in our throats.

Then this factual possession-rate would change,

in which my share are sleepless nights, shadows under eyes,

and you, god of leaden paces

would never feel ashamed of the humble gesture

to bend down to me.
