Még túl hosszú a tél:
ez január,
s beláthatatlan a hóförgeteg.
Világunk álma mély,
és dermedő
minden tavaszra váró gondolat,
de hinni kell,
mert egyszer minden bánat véget ér.
Legyen bár hóözön,
jég, fagy, lavina, köd:
a Nap előbb-utóbb kisüt,
és az ágak között
bimbózik a remény.

Wintertime is long still:
it's January,
snow-storms seem almost infinite.
The sleep of our world is deep,
and wintry are
all thoughts awaiting spring,
but hope one must,
for with time’s passing all our woes will end.
Be there torrents of snow,
ice, frost, mist or avalanche:
in time the sun will shine,
and hope will start to bud
between the branches.
