Hittem istenben,
hittem hazában,
örök életben,
feltámadásban…

Hittem anyámnak,
tanárnak, papnak…
Nem úgy akarták,
mégis becsaptak.

Higgyen az ember?
Hisz is avégett,
ne hordjon vállán
felelősséget…

Mindenek túlján,
hittem magamban.
Nagy hitem árán
nagy pofont kaptam!

Elmúlt az élet,
nem maradt semmi,
csak az, hogy végül
el kell majd menni.

Nem hiszek én már,
legfeljebb abban,
csak porszem vagyok
egy nagy kalapban.

I believed in god,
believed in homeland,
in living forever,
rising from the tomb…
 
I believed in mother,
the priest and the teacher…
They didn’t really mean it,
but they all deceived me.
 
Should one believe at all?
Everyone does, to shrug off
the far too heavy burden of
earthly responsibilities…
 
Above all these,
I believed in myself.
My deep belief resulted
in painful blows as well.
 
Life is over now,
nothing’s left to believe,
just that in the very end
we all have some day to leave.
 
I no more believe in
anything but the fact
that I’m a grain of sand
in a gigantic hat.
