A költő sem akar végül már semmit,
csak gyengéden szeretni, ráncos,
erőtlen kezével írt versét
az emberek szívére tenni.
A jó csöndre vágyik, az ihletet szülő,
mély hallgatásra, és a lényeget még
a csöndből kiássa, de nem akar mást,
semmit, csak gyengéden szeretni,
és legalább néha önmagának megfelelni.

A szíve sem kóborol végül egyre-másra,
tisztul a vágya, és ha nagy-sokára
szárnyakat bont a szavakká érlelt,
szelíd gondolat, a költő végül
nem akar mást, semmit,
csak gyengéden szeretni,
belecsókolni szerelmes versét
a lüktető, zajos, elvadult világba.
Ennyi csupán a költő utolsó vágya.

The poet wants no more in the end either,
only to love dearly, and lay the poem
written with their wrinkled, feeble hands,
on people’s hearts.
They long for precious silence, inspiring
profound stillness, they can still extract the essence
out of this silence, but they don’t want any more,
no more, just to love dearly, and at least
sometimes live up to their own expectations.
 
Their heart doesn’t wander around in the end either,
their desires get purer, and if at long last
the gentle idea ripened into words
takes wings, the poet in the end
wants no more, nothing at all,
only to love dearly,
to kiss their love poem into this
throbbing, noisy, savage world we own.
This is the poet’s last desire alone.
