Nyomorú tájék (Hungarian)
Ilyenkor indul el a hegyi szél s kotródik sírva a maradék meleg, ilyenkor szörnyű vágyaik miatt szerre pusztulnak el az emberek. Ilyenkor rothadt fát cipel a nép télre gyűjteni.

Wretched region (English)
This is the time the mountain winds begin,
and tearfully leftover warmth decamps,
the time when men, driven by dread urges,
are perishing, are falling from the ranks.
Time for folk to gather rotting timber
for wintertime. And soon an empty bed.
The one on it holds on, but will be dead
come night. His loss: no nevermind
for laden drawers, fine foods left behind.
It's time for cold to grip the summer house,
twists of trouble in cold and smoke are cloaked,
and sickness, too, had come in through the door,
the fevers spread, bad tempers are evoked,
a mother tears her hair out by the roots,
a dreadful night awaits her fevered child,
no drop of milk for living children even,
yet hundreds will farewell the one who died.
