Benedek Elek: Ins Evikes Buch (Évike könyvébe in German)

Portre of Benedek Elek

Évike könyvébe (Hungarian)

Koldust, ha látsz, és látsz bizonnyal,

Ajtód s szíved ne légyen zárva;

Fejed ne fordítsd el iszonnyal.

Mert rongyos, piszkos a ruhája.

Ki volt, mi volt? ne tudakoljad,

Fájdalmit ezzel is tetézve,

S amit ad jobb kezed, úgy adjad,

Hogy balkezed ne vegye észre.

Gondold, hogy e szegénynek is volt

A földi jókban része dúsan;

Hogy volt idő, mikor az égbolt

Ő rája sem borúla búsan.

Gondold: a sors mely változékony,

Király is lett koldus árva…

Más búja iránt légy fogékony,

Ajtód s szíved ne légyen zárva!

Ins Evikes Buch (German)

Bettler, wenn du siehst, 'd wirst du treffen,

mach deine Tür und dein Herz nicht zu;

dreh dein Kopf nicht weg mit Entsetzen.

Weil das Kleid zerlumpt und schmutzig dazu.

Wer und was war es? Frag nicht, wieso

sein Schmerz wird damit nur noch größer,

was die rechte Hand gibt, dann nur so,

weil das linke wird nur noch böser.

Denk dran, dass dieser Arme hat auch

einen Anteil an irdischen Güter;

es gab die Zeit, wo das Himmelsblau

es war immer nicht so leer ‘d düster.

Denk dran: Das Schicksal ist wandelbar,

auch König wurde schon arm hierzu …

Sein sensibel zu deinem Nachbar,

mach deine Tür und dein Herz nicht zu;
