Haza az éjszakában (Hungarian)
Szerda reggel lila az ég,
fekete a napraforgó.
Kezedben vásott rózsafüzér,
mondod, hogy nem jó,
idén a termés nem jó.
Aztán beharangoznak.
Vasárnap engem elvisz a vonat.
Kettészakít az út,
egyszerre megyek és
maradok.
De, már te sem vagy otthon.
Minden utcasarkon látom,
hogy befordulsz,
játszol velem, nem jössz haza,
anyám,
ez nem a mi házunk,
ez csak az éjszaka. |
Home In The Night (English)
Wednesday morning the sky’s purple,
the sunflower’s black.
Time-worn rosary in your hands,
you keep saying it isn’t good,
the crop this year isn’t good.
Then churchbells ring.
On Sunday the train takes me.
I’m split by the journey,
leaving, and at the same time
staying.
But, you’re no more home, either.
At each street-corner I see
you turning up,
you play with me, won’t come home,
mother,
it isn’t our house,
it’s only the night.
