Lelkem kiszikkadt mezején

pár szál virágot keresek

annak ki lelkem lelke és

minden virágnál kedvesebb,

kit boldog lennék boldogan

tudni, álomnál édesebb

életben, s mégis én teszem

hogy az élete csupa seb.

Fojtó szélverte zord mezőn

böngészve, sírva keresek...

Szegény, szegény virágaim,

be fonnyadók, be kevesek,

bús menekültek, mint magam,

s halálra szántak, s kékesek,

s utolsó pár szál ez talán

amit most lábadhoz teszek.

Tünődöm olykor, édesem,

jobb lesz-e ha már nem leszek?

Lesz-e nyaradnak ősze még

vidámabb, és virága szebb?
