Mégis megemlékeztél rólam, Isten
és azokat, akik téged kerestek,
akik téged szeretnek, megtaláltad.

Ifjú próféták üstökét ragadva
elhoztad babilóni ketrecemhez
a fügét és a datolyát kezökben.

Hirdesd ezért, világosság, sötétség,
az Urat! Hirdesd, pusztaság, folyóvíz
s bölcs cethalak és minden vízben-úszók!

Adjatok nékem szurkot, faggyat és szőrt:
fegyver nélkül megölöm én a sárkányt,
a cifra szörnyet, aki nektek isten.

De az oroszlánt nem bántom, ki engem
nem bánt. Estére visszatérek hozzá
s vad teste bundás melegében alszom.

Hallom majd nagy szivét dobogni; a föld
vele dobog, s az ég is; - én meg alszom
ringatva, mint az Isten csecsemője.

Nonostante tutto, Dio, ti sei ricordato
di me e di coloro, che ti cercavano a lungo,
di coloro che ti amano, e li avevi trovato.
 
Afferrando i giovani profeti per i capelli,
nelle loro mani avevi portato fichi e
datteri sino la mia gabbia di Babilonia.
 
Fulgore e scurità professate il nome del
Signore! Deserto professalo, acqua fluviale,
sagge balene, e voi tutti, abitanti delle acque!
 
Datemi tanto pece, tanto sego e tanti peli:
ed io, anche senz’arma ucciderò il drago,
il mostro adornato, che voi chiamate Dio.
 
Ma non toccherò il leone, perché lui non mi
fa del male. Stasera ritornerò da lui e dormirò
nel calore peloso del suo grande corpo selvaggio.
 
Sentirò battere il suo gran cuore; la terra
batterà insieme a lui, e anche il cielo; - ed io
dormirò cullato, come il neonato di Dio.
