Petri György: February dawn (Februári hajnal in English)

Portre of Petri György

Februári hajnal (Hungarian)

A fagyott hó helyén most
vizes a párkány, vizesen ragyog!
Csöpögnek a méteres
jégcsapok.
Ó, lassú, szép, könyörtelen
fogyatkozás.
Aláfolyik az ablaküvegen
az eleven
víz.

February dawn (English)

Where frozen snow had been
the sill is wet now, it has a watery shine!
The metre-long icicles
are dripping.
Oh, slow, beautiful, remorseless
diminution.
Running down the window-glass
there's lively
water.
