Balázs F. Attila: Love of the poet (A költő szerelme in English)

Portre of Balázs F. Attila

A költő szerelme (Hungarian)

Azt csinálom veled
mint a tavasz a cseresznyefával-
mondta a költő-
erdei gyümölcsöt mogyorót
és csókot szedek neked

a lány nem mond semmit
csak néz és mosolyog
mosolyog és néz
gyöngéd és hamis
rajongó és sajnálkozó szemekkel

csak néz és mosolyog
mint anya mint testvér
mint ringyó mint légikisasszony
mint aki alatt megmozdul a föld
mint akiben megmozdul valami

és másnap vagy harmadnap
és tegnap és tegnapelőtt
más férfi ágyába fekszik
unottan és ledéren
mint viharban megtépázott
cseresznyeág

Love of the poet (English)

I do with you
what spring does to the cherry tree -
said the poet -
I pick forest fruit hazelnuts
and kisses for you

the girl says nothing
she just looks and smiles
smiles and looks
with tender and false
enraptured and pitying eyes

just looks and smiles
as mother as sibling
as slut as stewardess
as one under whom the earth stirs
as one in whom something stirs

and the next day or the day after
and yesterday and the day before that
she lies in another man's bed
languidly and wantonly
like a cherry-tree branch
rumpled and torn by a storm
