Petőcz András: The demise of sadness (A szomorúság pusztulása in English)

Portre of Petőcz András

A szomorúság pusztulása (Hungarian)

Azt mondják, kevesen tudják,

mi is a Boldogság.

Nos, én sem tudhatom.

Csak azt látom, hogy azok,

akik nem én vagyok, azok

mind-mind boldogok körülöttem.

Talán csak a múlt, ami néha-néha

kicsinke boldogság-felhővel ugyan,

de megérinti az arcomat.

Talán csak a múlt, ami néha-néha

még elűzi belőlem a rosszkedvemet.

Majd ha a Bárány!

Ha a Bárány elsikoltja magát,

akkor elmúlik minden.

A szomorúság is meghal,

mindenekkel.

The demise of sadness (English)

They say, few know

what Happiness really is.

Well, I don't know either.

I only see, that those

who are not I, are all

happy around me.

Perhaps it is only the past which

touches my face, with but a smallish

happiness-cloud, from time to time.

Perhaps it is just the past, which

expels my bad mood from time to time.

Then, if the Lamb!

If the Lamb utters a scream,

all will come to pass.

Sadness will also die,

with everything.
