Kitelt a tél, árad az ér,
bomló rügyet ringáz a szél.
Sejhaj, ibolyalevél, -
bizsereg ilyenkor a szívbeli vér.

Bokrosodik az ibolya,
fesleni kezd a bimbója.
Sejhaj, ibolyalevél, -
bizsereg ilyenkor a szívbeli vér.

Csordul már a fából a lé,
hogyha szívet vágnak belé.
Sejhaj, ibolyalevél, -
bizsereg ilyenkor a szívbeli vér.

Ki vágott kést a szívembe,
hogy könny gyűl a két szemembe?
Sejhaj, ibolyalevél, -
bizsereg ilyenkor a szívbeli vér.

Tavaszi szél útat száraszt,
minden állat társat választ.
Sejhaj, ibolyalevél, -
bizsereg ilyenkor a szívbeli vér.

Mit is ér, hogy ember vagyok,
ha csóktalan elhervadok?
