Egynemű vagyok a széllel,

folyó sodrával,

esőcsepp hullásával,

madár röptével,

fapadlón járó facipős ember lába zajával.

Levegő-e a szél?

Víz-e a folyás és a csöppenés?

A röpülés madár-e

és fából van-e a fapadlón járó facipős ember kopogása?

Megszűnik a szél,

a levegő nem szűnik meg,

de szél nélkül halott.

Elhullt a madár,

a teste új mezbe öltözött,

száz új alakba szétívódott -

de a röpte nem maradt meg

és el se veszett.

Többet nem is tudok magamról

és mire tudnék,

már több leszek annál,

hogysem tudhatnék bármit is.

Még nem vagyok egész

és mire az lehetnék,

már több leszek annál,

hogysem magamban lehessek egész.

Még nem is élek,

nem is fogok élni:

életnél teljesebb

leszek a holtom után.

Ezt mondd, ha kérdezik, ki vagy.

I’m identical with the wind,

With the drift of the river,

With the fall of the raindrop,

With the flight of the bird,

With the noise of the feet of the man in a clog walking down on the wooden floor.


Is the wind, is it air?

Is the drift and the drop, is it water?

Is the knock of the clog on the wooden floor, is it made of wood?



The wind ceases
