Kalász Orsolya: thresholds (küszöbök in English)

Kell egy ajtó,

kell a kicsivilágnak határa,

a küszöb is,

átlépve megérezd,

valahogy másképp lehetsz itt akár védtelen is.

Csupán erre következtess a küszöbből,

ne hidd, hogy valaki otthonába lépsz,

hogy itt és most önfeledtebben rendelkezne bárki is

a dolgok felett, nem, nem, nem,

vázlatok csupán:

a gyertyafényes terített asztal, a lámpa fénykörében

sugárzó mandarinokkal teli ezüsttál,

a szelíden kopottas bársony székek, a zene,

a szép zene....

lehetőségek, ajánlatok.

Így képzelem a megérkezést a szenvtelenül

bonyolódó világból,

a bátórító, nem elbátortalanító küszöböt,

vágyküszöböt, szóküszöböt, érintésküszöböt,

az énküszöböt, amin átlépve mondhatom:

Rendelkezz velem!

A lélegzetelállító határátlépést,

ha megteszed.

There is need for a door,

need for a boundary for the tiny-world,

for a threshold, too,

so stepping over it you'd feel,

that you can be different somehow, maybe unprotected.

That's all you should deduce from a threshold,

do not believe that you are stepping into someone's home,

that here and now someone has

a freer say over matters, no, no, no,

the candle-lit table in the circle of the lamplight

the silver bowl filled with shiny mandarins,

the benignly worn velvet of the chairs, the music,

that beautiful music…

they are but sketches,

possibilities, submissions.

This is how I imagine arrival

from a dispassionately complicated world too be,

that encouraging, rather than discouraging threshold,

the threshold of desire, of words, of touching,

the threshold of the self, crossing over which I can say:

Possess me!

If one take that breath-taking step

over the boundary.
