Jász Attila: Worn wall mirror (Kopott falitükör in English)

Portre of Jász Attila

Kopott falitükör (Hungarian)

Ülsz a néma, napsütéses őszben, őszen az adventi Bécsre gondolsz, az elképzelt
kávé ízére egy puccos kávéházban, talán Thomas Bernhard is ott itta mogorván
napi feketéjét. A kellemes hidegre jut eszedbe a kivilágított főtéren. Fűszeres
forralt bor illata, üstökben gőzölgő ételek, itt nem lehetsz magányos, hiába
vagy egyedül. Mégis menekülsz. Egy őszi teraszon ülhetsz csak nyugodtan,
bágyadt napsütésben. Az emlékezet terén a hangszórókból hangos zene szól,
erős reflektorok ontják a fényt. Azt gondolod, tavaszig nem lesz már ilyen
a természetes fény. Szorítod a forró kávéscsészét, nem iszod meg, melegíted
a hűvös emléket magadban. Jeremy Irons tudott még ilyet, nem filmben,
egy ismerős lakásbuliján a tatai forgatás után. A hangzavarban ülni némán
egy sarokban. Pohár borral kezében, hogy ne legyen egyedül. Fáradtan,
szomorúan, de túlzottan jóképűen nézve a szemben lévő, kopott falitükörbe.

Worn wall mirror (English)

You sit in the silent sunshine of autumn, greying, thinking of Vienna at Advent, the imagined taste of the coffee in an over-decorated coffee house where Thomas Bernhard may also have sullenly sat drinking his short black of the day. The pleasant cool of the main square brings this to mind. The fragrance of the mulled wine, the food steaming in vats, no matter that you are alone, you can't be lonesome here. Yet you escape. You can only sit quietly on an autumn terrace in languid sunshine. On this square of memories loud music comes from speakers and powerful reflectors ooze the light. You think natural light will not be like this till spring. You squeeze the hot coffee cup, you don't drink, you warm the cool memory within you. Jeremy Irons knew of such, not in movies but at the home party of an acquaintance after the Tata shoot had finished. To sit quietly in a corner with a glass of wine in hand so he won't be alone. Tired, sad, but looking far too handsome in the worn wall mirror before him.
