Aztán elönt mindent az óceán.
Még hallom, amint egy régi szürkület
homályából nevemen szólít Édesanyám,
míg keze közül a lámpa vaksi kis pillangója
nekiröppen a kicsi ház ablakának.
Aztán elönt mindent az óceán,
Napot és Holdat és csodálatos testű
hajókat ringatva hullámain.
Csak egy árva vadkörte integet még utánam
ebből a parttalanná vált világból.

Then the ocean inundates everything.
I still hear how, from the haze of a long gone dusk,
my dear mother calls me by name, whilst the small
purblind butterfly of the lamp in her hands
flies at the windowpane of the tiny house.
Then the ocean, dandling sun and moon
and wonderous-bodied vessels upon its waves,
inundates everything.
Only a lone wild pear tree from this world
turned shoreless still waves after me.
