Álomba ringató (Hungarian)

Lebegett.
Elkezdett gondolkodni a sötétben, nézte a falat. A fal fehér, régi a gondolat.

Lulling To Sleep (English)

He was drifting about.
It was as if he was in an Andersen fairy-tale, he had the feeling, but all that happened was that he wasn’t sleeping again. He woke up at dawn and was only tossing and turning, biting his pillow as he was trying to sleep again, but he couldn’t, it seemed absolutely impossible, because an image kept emerging. Then several images, several occasions, which appeared kind of drifting on his dazzlingly whitewashed walls. Last night he slumbered into the midnight silence with some wine, they celebrated the end of the year with some colleagues, and still after four hours’ sleep his eyes suddenly opened, and he had no idea why. Bit by bit he started to come to his senses. He realized where he was, what day it was going to be. He began thinking in the darkness gazing at the wall. The wall is white, the thought is old. He was thinking lying in bed, which is the worst, because someone lying in bed alone shouldn’t think. I mean, he shouldn’t think about somebody. About something, about a lot of things, yes, that’s ok, but not about somebody. The lone single man has long not been able to feel anything so deep. He remembered the afternoon before and the experience that at such times there’s not only the solid block of stone glued onto his chest, but something also from below, from somewhere near the stomach, a kind of prickling. He was sure, it wasn’t diarrhoea or anything like that. That’s not so intensive. He might have dreamt something, which made him soaking wet and prickling, and with this once-again recognition he tried to stop the train of his thoughts, because „damn it, not that again such feelings” would come up in him, he turned to switch on the light. Anyhow, there’s no sleeping pill for it.
