Alámerült örökre. Semmi kétség.
Sosem volt rútabb halál
soha engesztelhetetlenebb gyűlölet
cserben hagyták a gyávák
s a hízelkedők elárulták.

Zászlók erdejéből lépett elő
és ordított és toporzékolt vészesen
kivégeztette, akiknek szemük volt
kivégeztette, akiknek szájuk volt
egy egész nép vérét
s végülis eltiportan hever
a hóban, a vizeletben, vagy a tüzes romok alatt.

Bűnhődött-e, ha megölte magát
bűnös-e, aki megölte
a hajszás nappalok
s a rémisztő éjszakák nélkül
szegényebb lett-e a világ?
Nem! Nem!

Most hasad ketté a fekete ég.
Most fakasztja csíráját
Az új gabona.
