A  film után megtudtuk,

hogy a Titanic muzsikusai

valóban játszottak hangszereiken

a süllyedő hajó  fedélzetén.

Előbb parancsszóra, majd önként,

a riadt tekintetek röptében,

amikor már senki se figyelt rájuk,

amikor a jeges víz cipőjük talpát marta,

még mindig, még mindig játszottak.

A kapitány a vezérlőfülkébe zárkózva.

A hajó csapdába szorult állat.

Violinkulcsok nyitogatják az iszonyat celláit.

Billent a fedélzet,

és a hangszerükbe kapaszkodva,

a húrok feszületében

ők még mindig játszottak.

Az utazás véget ér, a zene nem.

Iszonyú kórus: az elsodortak hangja.

A valóság: vízen lebegő hegedű.

A csönd hártyáját

szaggatja a dallam.

After the film we got to know

that the musicians of Titanic

were really playing their instruments

on the deck of the sinking ship.

First by command, then of their own free will,

amidst alarmed, scared looks,

when no one was listening any more,

when the icy water already bit their shoes,

they still kept playing on and on.

The captain locked himself up in his room.

The ship – a beast trapped.

Violin clefs try to open the cells of horror.

The deck lurched,

and holding on to their instruments,

with strained strings -

they were still playing.

The voyage is over, the music isn’t.

Horrible choir: shrieks of the drowning.

Reality - violin floating on water.

The membrane of silence

is pierced by the tune.
