Kormos István: Rain is falling (Eső esik in English)

Portre of Kormos István

Eső esik (Hungarian)

Egy meztelen fenekű angyal
vízzel teli kannát rugott föl,
aztán remegő orrcimpával
esőt kiabál pironkodva.

Eső, eső, eső, eső,
lucsokban fürdik a mező,
ajtaján Szent Péter nyikorgat,
gyere csak a szobámba lányom!

Büntetné a rugdalkozót,
az küszöbére térdepel,
nézvén meztelen fenekecskét
hümmög atyásan s félre fordul.

Rain is falling (English)

A bare-bottomed angel kicked over
a can to the brim full of water,
then, with her nostrils aquiver,

she blushes and shouts.
The rain, the rain, again, again:
the meadow is bathed in the slush,
St Peter's door is creaking,
come to my room my girl!

He plans to punish the kicker,
she falls to her knees on the sill,
but seeing her bottom, he haws
and turns like a father of course.
