Havas rét szélbemártott közepén körtefa
ha élne átmehetne rajt Jézus is maga
de Istenfia nem jár e földi téreken
kivált zuzmaragyöngyös ködülte réteken

Havas rét ifjúságom de rég elhagytalak
adnám a vérem érte fehéren lássalak
mezítláb visszamennék kölyökként kezdeni
keresni megtalálni s megint elveszteni
 

A snowy field a pear tree in its wind-dipped centre
Jesus himself could cross were he here to enter
but God's Son does no walking in these earthly spaces
especially in such rime-pearled fog-bound places
 
How long ago I left you my youth you snowy field
I'd give my blood to see you with your white revealed
barefoot I would return there to start as lad once more
to search to find again and to lose it as before
