Tűz, melegíts, ne égess

Égő sebet szívemre;

Nap, ne vakíts, világíts,

Nem nézek a szemedbe.

Asszony, puhácska száddal

Csókolj, ne a fogaddal;

Ki önnön sírod ásod

Ember, ne ránts magaddal.

Virág, maradj az ágon,

Megvárom a gyümölcsöd

Nem rugdalok markodba

Végzet, lazítsd a görcsöd.

Élet, mindenki éljen

S ne tudja meg, miért él;

Ígérd már másnak, Isten,

Amit nekem ígértél.
