A világ hogy elsilányul!
A zaj, mely megkábitott,
Azt hivéd, hogy harc, pedig csak
Halál vonaglása volt.
Fönn az égen, lenn a földön
Semmi sincs tökéletes.
Hitvány volt és lesz az ember...
Egyél, igyál és nevess.

Mit törekszel jobbra, szebbre
Erőszakos útakon?
Öldöklésen vett szelídség:
Káron vásárolt haszon.
Minden úgy van jól, amint van,
Semmi sincs fölösleges.
Bűnnel telhetetlen ember,
Egyél, igyál és nevess.

Vágysz alkotni maradandó
Hibátlan műveket?
Melyeket a mulandóság
Jó előre kinevet!
Míg föléje az irigység
Keze szemfödőt keres...
Bélpoklos, gyógyíthatatlan,
Egyél, igyál és nevess.

Egymagad törekszel arra:
Boldogítni milliót?
S ugyanaz terít a földre,
Kinek vágyol tenni jót.
Jobb bizony, gondolj magadra,
S végső nyughelyet keress,
Hová el ne érjen e hang:
Egyél, igyál és nevess.
